For sale, we have a beautiful example of vintage Mark Levinson equipment in the form of the Mark Levinson No. 28 preamplifier and No. 29 power amplifier.
Both units come from a time when Mark Levinson were producing well-crafted equipment, free from outside influence.
Both the preamp and power amp have been meticulously cared for by the previous owner. Now approaching 30 years old, they show the expected signs of use for their age, but remain in fantastic overall condition.
The power amplifier in particular has received bespoke attention, with the speaker binding posts upgraded to higher-quality terminals. Importantly, both units come from a non-smoking, pet-free home.
Original packaging is not included for either unit, including the power supply. However, both can be shipped to UK buyers using suitable generic packaging, including double-walled cardboard boxes, foam, and bubble wrap.
Serial numbers: power amplifier 2181, preamplifier 1467, power supply 2369.
As the items are second-hand, no warranty is provided.
The Mark Levinson No. 28 is a solid-state stereo preamplifier featuring fully balanced inputs and outputs, together with an off-board PLS-228 power supply. It provides five line inputs using CAMAC connectors for unbalanced (RCA-compatible) sources, along with two balanced XLR inputs. Outputs include three CAMAC connections and one XLR output, with a pair of CAMAC connectors supplied. The unit does not feature a phono stage but does include a tape loop. True to its heritage, the No. 28 delivers the characteristic organic, dark Mark Levinson presentation.
The Mark Levinson No. 29 Power Amplifier is a compact, dual-mono, solid-state amplifier delivering 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 100 watts into 4 ohms. The unit includes balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) inputs. Tonally, the amp produces the characteristic organic dark presentation Mark Levinson is known for.
